My E-type ownership begins

I have had a passion for classic cars all my life but restoring classic cars was a distant memory due to family and work commitments.  I have been watching the classic car market for some time and it appeared to me that if I didn't do something soon my dream to own an E-Type could easily be dashed.

As it was prices of the Roadster and the Fixed Head Coupe (FHC) had surpassed me and the more practical and affordable 2+2 seemed like the option for me.

During the autumn of 2015 I started searching with greater intent and quickly discovered that right hand drive 2+2 cars were generally fairly rotten and yet the prices were still high.  I decided that I needed to restore a car from scratch and that if I was going to do this then a rot free example from the USA could be a better option.

A friend who owns a FHC put me in touch with Carl from Xtreme Jaguar who gave me a great deal of information, assistance and encouragement.

So it was on a cold morning in late December that Carl and I looked upon a very sorry E-Type 2+2 recently imported from the USA and believe it or not advertised on eBay a mile from my front door.
